First, I want you all to know that everyone did a great job. There were tons of entries. Second, it seems that the puzzle-making software I use filled in all the extra spaces with letters that, as it turns out, spelled some nautical terms that I never intended should be there.
So, to make things completely fair, I expanded the the list of acceptable words to include many of those (like yar and lee.) I also expanded the parameters a bit on the actual answers, so if you said "stern" instead of "astern", I still counted that as correct.
Third, a hearty pat on the back goes to those dogged few of you who listed every single dang word that could possibly work as a nautical term, even though your lists were well over 24 words. Way to cover your bases, everybody!
